Welcome to the IEEE RAS Student Chapter of the University of São Paulo, São Carlos (or EESC-USP, as we are used to call it), Brazil.
Recently founded in October 2nd of 2019, the São Carlos RAS Chapter is mainly composed by graduate students of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the EESC-USP.
Activities
Aligned with RAS’ vision and mission, we are engaged in helping the development of Robotics and Automation to the São Carlos academic and civi communities.
Our main recurrent activities are:
- Robotics Reading group: it is open to the general public and, due to the recent pandemic situation, it is online! Additionally, our recorded meetings are available on our YouTube channel. Come join us 🙂
- Tutoring of undergrad students: we have a scheduled weekly time slot where our graduate students help the Mechatronics and Mechanical engineering students of EESC-USP. It is currently on hold, but will resume soon
We also have done different activities:
- Panel discussion on the “Role of the engineer in current market” (7 nov. 2019). We had more than 30 students in a discussion with a professor of EESC-USP (former Embraer), former student of EESC-USP, Grob of Brazil engineer and a RAS student chapter participant (with 4 years in a company in France);
- Helped with MIT Brazil’s activities in summer school for high school students;
And many more coming:
- Summer school in Robotics;
- Interview with professors and professionals from Robotics and Automation field;
- Robotics course for elementary level students.
If you are interested in participanting or supporting us, please refer to our social medias contacts! We would love to hear from you some interesting ideas, your passion for RA and many other stories you could let us know.
